Signs it may be becoming a problem

You do not need to wait for things to feel extreme before using support. It may be time to stop and talk to someone if you are chasing losses, hiding play from people close to you, borrowing to gamble, using gambling to escape stress or sadness, spending more than planned, or feeling restless when you try to stop.

Other signs can be practical: failed deposits, cancelled plans, missed bills, repeated withdrawals that go back into play, or opening another account after a limit has been set. If any of that sounds familiar, use a barrier now, before another deposit.

Tools every licensed casino offers

Licensed operators must provide account tools that help you control access and spend. Deposit limits cap the amount you can pay in over a chosen period. Loss limits cap the amount you can lose. These tools usually sit in the account, cashier or safer-gambling area, and the operator must make financial limit facilities easy to reach.

Session reminders tell you how long you have been playing. Time-outs create a short break, commonly for 24 hours, one week, one month or another reasonable period up to six weeks. Self-exclusion is a formal request to stop access for longer. A licensed operator must provide a route to self-exclude and take reasonable steps to stop access during the exclusion period.

A lower limit should take effect immediately unless there is a technical problem. A request to raise a customer-led limit should only happen at your request, after a cooling-off period and a positive confirmation. If a tool is hard to find, search the account menu for safer gambling, gambling controls, account limits or responsible gambling.

Limits and exclusion across sister sites

Because Ace of Spade maps casino families, this part matters. A limit or exclusion set at one brand may or may not apply at its sisters. The answer is what the operator publishes, never an assumption. Check the operator's own policy, ask support for written scope, and keep that reply.

This page will never help anyone get around an exclusion. If you want a proper break from online gambling, use the national multi-operator self-exclusion scheme rather than trying to close accounts brand by brand. A single-brand exclusion may leave gaps; the national route is designed for broader online coverage.

Blocking beyond the casino

Bank gambling transaction blocks add another barrier by stopping many card payments identified as gambling. Availability and cooling-off rules vary by bank, so check your own banking app or contact the bank directly. These blocks may not catch every route, especially where a transaction is not correctly identified.

Blocking software can restrict access to gambling sites on a device. Device controls, app-store controls and internet-provider filters can add friction as well. These tools work best in layers: casino controls, the national scheme, bank blocks, device blocking and support from another person who knows what is happening.

Children and young people

This site is for adults aged 18 or over. Licensed remote operators must verify age before someone can deposit, gamble, or access free-to-play gambling games. They must also warn that underage gambling is an offence and allow filtering software to restrict access to relevant pages.

If you are a parent or carer, use device controls, app-store restrictions and broadband filters before there is a problem. If a young person is already worried about gambling, start with GamCare's young people's support or NHS guidance for young people.

How this site handles it

Ace of Spade writes for adults and keeps ownership, sister-site links and operator records separate from encouragement to gamble. We avoid wording that suggests gambling is certain, profitable or financially useful. We include 18+ wording on the site and keep responsible gambling support links in the footer. When a page discusses an offer, it should show the conditions that matter before any sign-up decision.
